Who We Are

Our Company

Applied Mechatronics, a division of Advanced Mechatronic Services, Inc. (AMS), is a Houston, Texas based engineering and development company comprised of multiple engineering disciplines to provide support to users of automated computer storage. AMS' focus is providing support for computer mass-storage mechatronics (jukeboxes, autochangers and other autoloading apparatus) and the I/O devices they serve. Our goal is to provide unparalleled support to manufacturers, integrators, application software developers and users of automated CD-ROM devices and other emerging storage technologies.

Our People

Our technical staff has extensive experience in all aspects of mechatronics and we approach mass-storage from a total system point-of-view. Our engineers were among the first to work with 8mm technology in late 1987. We later developed and integrated the industry's first 8mm jukebox and some of the world's largest and most complex storage arrays and configurations. We have attached 8mm, 4mm, magneto-optical, WORM and associated autochangers to most popular platforms. Expertise developed in design and integration of other leading-edge technologies is applied to CD-ROM technology.

Our Commitment

We will always offer the best solution for the application. Realizing that we can't be all things to all people, if we don't have the right solution, we will refer you to a company that does.

Our Products and Services

AMS offers CDAS software, consulting, engineering support service, field service and depot repair service. All products and services have been designed around standards-based, highly reliable, field proven products. Our experience and vision is reflected in the design of all software products and services. Software is designed to support heterogenous networks and is scalable, allowing for growth from a few CD-ROMs to thousands of CD-ROMs while using the same interface. Services are flexible and geared to the customer's application and specific requirements.

Software

CDAS (Compact Disc AutoServ) File Cataloging/Retrieval software products run on Unix servers and allow DOS, Windows, OS/2, Mac, DEC VMS and Unix clients access via TCP/IP, NFS, and IPX/SPX (Novell Netware). CDAS implements a hybrid three-tiered approach by combining CD-ROM arrays, jukeboxes and magnetic caching disks in a common repository that may be accessed via a common interface. CDAS provides a layer for client-centric, server-centric or network-centric applications. API level toolkits are available.

Consulting

Our staff endeavors to fully understand your application and requirements. Based on this knowledge, we will recommend the best solution available. Because we share your concern for the availability and integrity of your data, we recommend only open standard-based, reliable, field proven products and services to insure maximum utilization of your information systems.

Engineering Support Services

AMS engineering support provides ancillary support for manfacturers, VARs, and service providers that require support in the development of hardware documentation, hardware field maintenance training and service management issues. We develop field-level hardware maintenance documentation and conduct customized hardware training programs for products that we support.

Field Service

AMS provides on-site or telephone technical support to manufacturers, VARS, integrators, maintenance providers and other customers with applications that utilize mechatronics. These services include configuration support, installation, on-site service, and maintenance contracts. These services are available nationwide, twenty-four hours a day, seven days per week.

Depot repair/refurbishment

AMS offers repair and refurbishment of field proven products that we support. All repairs have a standard turnaround of five work-days. Expedited service is available for an additional fee, and "24 hour cross ship spares" plans are available for most products.

Integration

We provide integration for Sun Microsystems' platforms and most popular CD-ROM devices.
